Lead generation is a marketing tool used by many business owners to promote a product, a service, or a website. There are two kinds of leads: PPL or Pay-Per-Lead and PPS or Pay-Per-Sign up. These terms are common to affiliate marketing programs.
In sales, a lead is a person who can be qualified into a prospect and later into a client. Contractor leads are people or companies which generates leads to another company, product, or service. The lead generation is done through internet chatting or calling with the help of high page ranking social media sites.
For example, a company has a service or a manufactured product of which he’d like to market. Since online marketing is already the new trend in sales, there is no point in hiring a sales person anymore to do cold calls and spam e-mail. Online marketing strategists would certainly hire a company which offers lead generation.
Lead generators promote the client’s product or service using their ways and their resources. They are hired to cut down on lead generation costs since these companies usually operate on a commission-basis. The payment may vary depending on the product and the target market. If the product is for those who belong to the higher bracket of society, then it is more likely that
contractor leads will demand for a higher cost.
As mentioned, there are client companies who would pay their
contractor leads through Pay-Per-Lead. Once the lead or prospect signs-up or gives his information like e-mail for a free subscription of a service, the contractor lead that generated the lead will be paid. Signing up is commonly the first step in turning that prospect into a client, because once a person signs up with his information, the chances for the second step of the sales process which is the actual selling is already open.
Pay-Per-Sign up or PPS lead generation is more complex and risky. The prospect here would not only be required to sign-up with the e-mail information. The
contractor leads also do an actual selling here or at least promote the first paid-trial subscription. It is risky because the prospect (now turned client) is required to pay through credit card. However, prospects are assured of discrete transaction here as stated on the company privacy policies.
